Why Subfloor Repair Matters

The subfloor is the foundation every finished floor sits on, and it's the one part of the job that's easy to overlook once new flooring is down and looking great. But a subfloor with soft spots, water damage, or uneven areas doesn't go away just because it's covered — it shows up later as squeaks, dips, cracked grout, or seams that separate. Repairing and leveling the subfloor before installation is what actually protects the investment you're making in new carpet, hardwood, laminate, or vinyl, rather than just installing over a problem that's waiting to resurface.

What Happens

We start by inspecting the exposed subfloor for rot, water damage, loose sheathing, and low or high spots. Damaged sections are repaired or replaced with new material and properly fastened down, and where the surface is uneven but structurally sound, we apply self-leveling compound to bring it flat before new flooring goes on top. The goal is a subfloor that's solid and even enough that whatever you install next — carpet, hardwood, laminate, or vinyl — goes down clean and stays that way.
